DATA RECOVERY FROM HDD FOR DESKTOPS OR LAPTOPS

Due to the investments made over time for equipments and personnel training, BIT Data Recovery is currently No. 1 in Romania in data recovery services from hard drives. Our company holds technologies used in the recovery of mechanical defects, which no other company in Romania holds. Also BIT Data Recovery holds a CLEAN ROOM CLASS 100 without which it would not be possible to recover the data from hard disks with mechanical defects.

BIT Data Recovery offers professional recovery services for all types of hard drives on ATA, SATA or ZIF interface of 1.8"(laptop), 2.5"(laptop) and 3.5"(desktop).

Recovery data

According to statistics performed by BIT Data Recovery technicians, the most frequent types of hards which come in for service with various defects are Western Digital si Seagate.

BIT Data Recovery holds state-of-the-art recovery technology for these types of hard drives.  The HARD DRIVE RECOVERY service can insure recovery from hard drives in the following situations:  Accidental data deletion, mechanical failure, burnt hard drives, kicked or dropped hard drives, firmware failures ....

Unfortunately there are cases when the data CANNOT BE RECOVERED but by means of our equipments and our experience accumulated over a long period of time, we try to make these cases rare

IF THE DATA IS IMPORTANT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECOVER IT ON YOUR OWN, CONTACT A DATA RECOVERY SPECIALIST. BE ADVISED! IF SOMEONE IS A COMPUTER SPECIALIST IT DOES NOT MEAN HE IS ANY GOOD WITH DATA RECOVERY.

We have met with sufficient cases where hard drives have “passed by an acquaintance” working in the IT field before they reached us. In most of these cases, due to the lack of information and equipments necessary for these operations, this lead to mistake after mistake and consequently to the impossibility of recovery.

Here are some situations we have met with :

arrow“I opened the hdd for a bit to see what was inside but closed it back up again, it is clean, there is no dust inside” – in this case the chances of the recovery of the data decrease significantly since in the normal air there are 2.500.000 particles and any hdd opening procedures are performed inside a CLEAN ROOM where the number of dust particles is 0. There are however some rare cases when we manage to recover the data from the hard drive even under such circumstances.

arrow“my hard disk burnt and I bought another hard disk to exchange the electrical parts, but I found that it was still not working” – with the last generations of hard disks the electrical wiring is unique and include «adaptives» which are specific to every individual hard disk, so the exchange of the electrical parts can only lead to additional damage of the FIRMWARE area of the hard disk or the reading pins. From a statistical point of view 70% of the cases described above are performed by persons working in IT and 30% of cases by hard disk owners

Data recovery from mechanical defects

THE 4 MOST COMMON DEFECTS A HARD DISK CAN HAVE

LOGICAL DEFECT - characterised by defects of the drives, deteriorations of the file system, accidental formatting or deletion. We can speak of a logical defect only if the hard disk is in a perfect operation state or has at most a few bad sectors. A few examples of logical defects which require hard drive recovery data:
  • accidental deletion of a file, folder or a whole drive
  • corruption of a file system due to a virus
  • accidental formatting of a drive
  • bad sectors determining the operation system to block

ELECTRICAL FAILURE - characterised by a failure of the electrical plate of the hard . This failure generally appears as a consequence of power fluctuations following a faulty hard drive disconnectioni. The HDD Recovery data with burnt electrical partelectrical part of the hard drive is a unique component for the last general hdd and therefore, there is equipment necessary for the drive drive recovery, which allows access to platter surfaces. The exchange of the PCB with an identical hard drive does not allow the recovery of data in most cases, but can cause additional damage to the hard drive FIRMWARE.

FIRMWARE FAILURE - these are some of the most frequent types of problems a hdd can have. Practically the FIRMWARE area of the hard disk represents an information allowing for the initiation and access of data from the disk surface.  This information is stored on the surface of the platters and is not available on the electric part of the disk.  Therefore a FIRMWARE problem cannot be solved by exchanging the electrical part. Recovery data for this type of problem involves equipments and experience from the technician working with the case

MECHANICAL FAILURE - these failures appear most often after shocks, power fluctuations, extended use and problems of manufacture. Most frequently when a hard disk emits repetitive sounds (clicking) there is a mechanical problem.  Data recovery after this type of failure requires certain specialised equipments and stat-of-the-art solutions which lead to a high cost of data recovery.

The most frequent cases of mechanical defects are :
  • partial or total defects of reading / writing pins
  • hard disk motor block following dropping or shock
  • partial or total surface deterioration
Data recovery procedures

HARD DISK DATA RECOVERY PROCEDURES

LOGICAL DEFECTS - The recovery of the data from the drive takes place by means of specialised software for the extraction of data even if this data has been deleted or the drives was formatted. The Hard recovery data service for this type of defect is valid only as long as the hard disk is fully operational.

FIRMWARE DEFECTS - For this type of defect the recovery procedures implies the use of specialised equipments which allow access to the FIRMWARE area, even if the hdd is no longer available.  This gives us in the majority of cases access to the data surface of the hard disk and their partial or total recovery.  In some situations the hard disk can be recovered if there is a FIRMWARE problem, but in most cases recovery data is the only possibly option.

ELECTRICAL DEFECTS - An electrical defect implies certain reconstruction procedures for the PCB of the defective drive.  This is performed using some information from the FIRMWARE area of the drive by means of specialised equipments.  In over 70% of cases, as a consequence of an electrical defect, only a deterioration of the PCB occurs, but there are some 30 % of cases when the reading pins also become defective, and in this case the only option is the MECHANICAL recovery procedure.

MECHANICAL DEFECTS - In case of mechanical defects the hard recovery data procedures are performed inside a special CLEAN ROOM CLASS 100 environment, which allows for the opening of the hard disk without compromising the data on it. In normal air which we breathe in every day there are approximately 2.500.000 dust particles per cubic meter, practically in this CLEAN ROOM the hard disk is protected by these particles which can alter the environment inside the hdd. The most frequent mechanical procedures performed are exchanging the reading pins and moving the platters or unblocking the motor.  These operations are executed by means of specialised equipments inside the CLEAN ROOM.
