“I opened the hdd for a bit to see what was inside but closed it back up again, it is clean, there is no dust inside” – in this case the chances of the recovery of the data decrease significantly since in the normal air there are 2.500.000 particles and any hdd opening procedures are performed inside a CLEAN ROOM where the number of dust particles is 0. There are however some rare cases when we manage to recover the data from the hard drive even under such circumstances.

We have met with sufficient cases where hard drives have “passed by an acquaintance” working in the IT field before they reached us. Characterised by a failure of the electrical plate of the hard . This failure generally appears as a consequence of power fluctuations following a faulty hard drive disconnectioni. The exchange of the PCB with an identical hard drive does not allow the recovery of data in most cases, but can cause additional damage to the hard drive FIRMWARE.
These are some of the most frequent types of problems a hdd can have. Practically the FIRMWARE area of the hard disk represents an information allowing for the initiation and access of data from the disk surface. This information is stored on the surface of the platters and is not available on the electric part of the disk. Therefore a FIRMWARE problem cannot be solved by exchanging the electrical part. Recovery data for this type of problem involves equipments and experience from the technician working with the case.
These failures appear most often after shocks, power fluctuations, extended use and problems of manufacture. Most frequently when a hard disk emits repetitive sounds (clicking) there is a mechanical problem. Data recovery after this type of failure requires certain specialised equipments and stat-of-the-art solutions which lead to a high cost of data recovery. The most frequent cases of mechanical defects are : partial or total defects of reading / writing pins; hard disk motor block following dropping or shock; partial or total surface deterioration;
LOGICAL DEFECTS - The recovery of the data from the drive takes place by means of specialised software for the extraction of data even if this data has been deleted or the drives was formatted. The Hard recovery data service for this type of defect is valid only as long as the hard disk is fully operational.
FIRMWARE DEFECTS - For this type of defect the recovery procedures implies the use of specialised equipments which allow access to the FIRMWARE area, even if the hdd is no longer available. This gives us in the majority of cases access to the data surface of the hard disk and their partial or total recovery. In some situations the hard disk can be recovered if there is a FIRMWARE problem, but in most cases recovery data is the only possibly option.
ELECTRICAL DEFECTS - An electrical defect implies certain reconstruction procedures for the PCB of the defective drive. This is performed using some information from the FIRMWARE area of the drive by means of specialised equipments. In over 70% of cases, as a consequence of an electrical defect, only a deterioration of the PCB occurs, but there are some 30 % of cases when the reading pins also become defective, and in this case the only option is the MECHANICAL recovery procedure.
MECHANICAL DEFECTS - In case of mechanical defects the hard recovery data procedures are performed inside a special CLEAN ROOM CLASS 100 environment, which allows for the opening of the hard disk without compromising the data on it. In normal air which we breathe in every day there are approximately 2.500.000 dust particles per cubic meter, practically in this CLEAN ROOM the hard disk is protected by these particles which can alter the environment inside the hdd. The most frequent mechanical procedures performed are exchanging the reading pins and moving the platters or unblocking the motor. These operations are executed by means of specialised equipments inside the CLEAN ROOM.
