PHYSICAL DEFECT - this happens as a consequence of an inadequate contact with the USB port of your computer or in case of a deterioration of the electric part or in case of accidental breaking of the memory stick (e.g. the controller is burnt, the USB flash drive interface is deteriorated, contacts are removed or the flash drive is cracked or broken)
LOGICAL DEFECT - in case some files were deleted by mistake or formatted or in case the USB flash drive appears in the computer as unallocated and requests formatting, or in any other case where the stick is functional and detected by the computer, but the data can no longer be accessed.
BIT Data Recovery can recover your data from the majority of memory sticks even if the USB flash drive is no longer recognised by the operating system (Windows). If you insert the memory stick into your PC and you see this image you only have two options left :
- bring the memory stick in for warranty and lose the data
- bring your memory stick for service and recover the data but lose the warranty
With our equipments, BIT Data Recovery provides professional memory stick data recovery services regardless of the type of the problem..

Case No. 1
A customer came to us with a memory usb that was effectively crashed, practically the plastic cover protecting the electrical units of the USB flash drive were cracked and the electrical wires were broken (this occurred as a desk fell over). The customer was convinced that nothing could be done to recover the data but still brought the memory stick to us for a diagnosis. Following verifications made we found that it was possible to recover the data from the usb stick. He could not believe it when 5 days later we returned the completely recovered data to him in the same file and folder structure. We must admit that if the breaking of the electrical wire had appeared after the customer has removed the memory stick any other way, it would have been probably impossible for us to recover the data.
Case No. 2
There are cases when customers come to us because at the moment when they connect the usb stick it demands formatting and they cannot do this, because the USB stick contains important data which might be lost. In such situations, from the moment you come to us, in only a few hours, you can have your data back on a DVD and thus you will be able to format the USB stick.
Case No. 3
A customer came to us with a Usb Stick which displayed the message “USB device not recognised” when connected to the computer, when this problem occurred there was still data being copied. Following a diagnosis we were able to find that it was a physical defect and the only means of recovering the data from the stick USB was by reading and rebuilding the memory flash algorithm.
These are only some cases we presented with the intention of giving you an idea of the failures we can solve. We currently have over 100 cases of successfully solved USB stick.

A LOGICAL DEFECT is characterised by the following problems: Accidental deletion of certain files, documents, photos, data bases :
For LOGICAL DEFECTS recovery from the usb stick is performed by means of certain software or programs which can recover files even if the memory stick was deleted or formatted. The necessary condition for the data to be recovered is that nothing else is attempted with the memory stick after the loss of data has been discovered. Practically every file written to disk after a deletion or a formatting can mean an overwriting of another file which could have been recovered. Another very important aspect for the recovery of data in case of logical defects is the experience of the technician handling data recovery, and it is very often the case that a software cannot identify the folder or file structure and in this case the manual procedure of interpreting the content and recovering the data from the USB flash drive is necessary.
A PHYSICAL DEFECT is characterised by the following types of problems: The USB flash drive has a deteriorated usb port and the connection is no longer possible:
For PHYSICAL DEFECTS, the recovery procedures are different. In these cases it is necessary to disassemble the memory stick and extract the memory flashes. Subsequently they can be read by means of RAW equipment. Subsequently these virtual images of the memory flashes are connected to specialised equipments for data recovery. The data on the memory flashes are built based on specific algorithms which differ according to the model of the controller and according to the model of the memory flash. The memory stick data recovery services for this type of defect are extremely complex and require a long work period to identify the data recovery algorithm.
